More info and social media:
On Sunday, May 18, we are organizing the Vote of No Confidence mass protest in Helsinki, bringing together people who oppose the dismantling of the welfare state, tax cuts for the wealthy, discriminatory policies, and the erosion of fundamental rights. With this protest, we express our concern about the direction in which the government is taking Finland – and there are many of us who are worried.
Behind the protest is a diverse group of people: teachers, doctors, social workers, researchers, artists, students, parents, and professionals from various fields. The event follows safer space principles and will be made accessible. The march is peaceful, family-friendly, and open to all.
We welcome everyone who wants to stand against the dismantling of the welfare state, tax cuts for the rich, discriminatory policies, and the erosion of basic rights. The protest unites people and organizations defending families, minorities, the poor, immigrants, the elderly, animals, science, small businesses, the environment, democracy, free media, and human rights. Join us – ordinary people, families, NGOs, networks, professional groups, and entrepreneurs – who are concerned about the direction the government has taken.
The protest begins at Senate Square in Helsinki on Sunday, May 18 at 14:00. We will gather and march together to the Parliament House. There will be speeches and music at the final location; performers will be announced later.

We are issuing a vote of no confidence from the people to the government because we have lost trust in the current government. We are workers, students, unemployed, parents, people from all walks of life who refuse to stand by silently. We represent the majority and the minorities, people of all genders, and diverse social backgrounds. Many of us are low-income individuals directly affected by government policies, and others are high-income earners who do not want tax breaks at the cost of public services. Among us are public sector professionals who see the damage done by this government’s actions daily—teachers, social workers, nurses, doctors, and more.
We are your family, your neighbor, your patient, your coworker, your friend, your grandparents, your children. We are a diverse group, but we are united by one thing: we will not stand by in silence while the government destroys what matters most—human dignity, rights, and a welfare state that supports everyone.
The government’s policies deepen inequality, erode rights, and build a society where only a few can afford wellbeing. Social security is being slashed while the rich receive tax cuts. Families, the sick, retirees, people living off of pensions and the poor are pushed into suffering — not by accident, but by choice.
Immigration laws have been tightened in ways that increase fear, insecurity, and discrimination. People are treated as tools, not individuals. Minority rights are being weakened both in legislation and in public attitudes. Racism is not fought—it is normalized and allowed.
Funding for art, culture, and civil society is being cut—silencing voices that offer alternatives and hope. Free media is under pressure, and political rights are being squeezed. Strikes are restricted, organizing is hindered. This is not accidental—it is a deliberate ideological choice, dismantling democracy piece by piece.
The environmental crisis is worsening, but the government’s climate and environmental policy is slow, ineffective, and regressive. Nature protection remains only in rhetoric, while real decisions take us further from sustainability.
Small businesses, whom the government claims to support, suffer from VAT hikes and declining purchasing power. At the same time, power is centralized, collective bargaining is weakened, and life is made more unstable for everyone—except big corporations.
We say: enough is enough.
This is a vote of no confidence against a government that does not defend all its people but deepens divisions.
We demand social justice, equality, human rights, and a functioning democracy. We demand a government that prioritizes dignity, wellbeing, the rule of law, and the environment.
We are taking to the streets—because hope needs a voice.
And this voice is ours.
This is Vote of No Confidence.
